Personal data: a much-discussed topic. And not without reason. Privacy is very important, of course, and we can well understand that you want to know what we do with the personal data you leave behind. We explain this clearly here in our privacy policy. If you still have questions after reading, please feel free to contact our customer service.
The Privacy Policy you are reading now applies to all webshops of Ombits. When another party is responsible for collecting and processing your data, you can consult that party’s privacy policy on their respective website.
Your personal data
You fill in your personal data because it is required when placing an order. But why do you have to provide this data and what do we do with it? Is it safe?
We ask for your personal data because it is necessary to complete the agreed appointment: delivering the items you ordered in our webshop. We ask for your email address so we can keep you informed about the progress of your order. That way, you know exactly when your order is being processed and when it has been shipped. Quite convenient, right? We ask for your phone number so we can quickly and easily contact you if something unexpected happens with your order. Fortunately, this doesn’t happen often, but quick action is nice to prevent delays.
When are they accessed?
The data you share with us in confidence can only be accessed by colleagues who need the data to ensure the order and shipping process runs smoothly. This includes our colleagues from system development, customer service, and order processing. When you sign up for the newsletter, our colleagues responsible for sending the newsletter can also access your email address.
Your data is accessed/processed in the following situations:
- Processing your order
- For returns & repairs
- When you contact our customer service
We use your data to provide you with the most optimal and personal service. Think of:
- Reviews and customer satisfaction surveys
- Visiting our website
- Emails (and any newsletters)
- Personal advice
- Promotions
- Social Media
Of course, we never lose sight of your privacy in this process. In some cases, we have a legal obligation to use your data. This is, for example, the case when we suspect fraud.
Third parties
We only share your data with third parties if it is necessary for proper service. These are controlled parties who all comply with the privacy laws applicable in Europe: delivery partners, suppliers, repairers, payment partners, IT service providers, and the parties that collect and process our reviews.
To offer a personalized experience, we sometimes use data management platforms and media and advertising agencies. This way, for example, we can show you targeted ads based on your interest in a particular item.
In cases of suspected fraud, we are required to share your data with the designated government authorities.
Clear agreements
The parties who get access to your personal data from us may only use it to provide you a service on our behalf. This does not apply when they are themselves responsible for obtaining and protecting your data. Sometimes cookie developers have access to data collected by cookies on our site. You can read more about these matters and cookies in our cookie policy.
Very secure
We are aware that privacy is a valuable asset and see it as our responsibility to protect your privacy. All data you provide to us is stored on our own secure servers or those of a third party. Your data is almost always stored within the European Union. In very exceptional cases, customer data is transferred to countries outside the European Union, but even then we ensure your privacy remains well protected. For certain countries, it is officially established how this is arranged, and some American companies have registered under the Privacy Shield which provides sufficient protection. When neither of these applies, we ensure all important agreements are recorded in a data processing agreement.
Measures
We consider good protection of your (personal) data important. Therefore, we have taken several technical and organizational measures to secure it and prevent data breaches. We have a clear and strict policy regarding the processing of personal data, and all our employees are aware of it. So you don’t have to worry, we do everything possible to safeguard your privacy.
How long do we use your data?
You provide your data to us, it is stored on our servers, and then? How long do we keep it? Very simple: no longer than necessary.
- We do not record phone calls.
- Our administration with your invoice, payment, and order details must be kept for 7 years by law.
- Notifications you make to us regarding warranty or complaints are also kept for 7 years.
- If you have given permission to receive the newsletter, we keep the consent for up to 5 years after you withdraw your consent. We also keep the record of your withdrawal for 5 years.
Cookies
We do enjoy a cookie with tea. Unfortunately, these are not the cookies we mean when we talk about ‘cookies’ on our website. To avoid any confusion once and for all, we explain exactly which cookies we mean.
A cookie is a small text file placed on your computer during a visit to a website. Information is stored in this text file. This information can be read by the website during a later visit. Some of these cookies are necessary because the site cannot function properly without them. Other cookies are used to enhance the usability of the website, and yet other cookies are used to show targeted advertisements.
Web beacons are small graphic images on a web page that are hidden from the user and can measure visits and usage of a web page.
JavaScript is a widely used scripting language that runs in the user's browser. By running JavaScript, we can determine where the visitor is located and which actions are performed. This way, we gain better insight into visitor behavior. This allows us to improve the website layout and advertise more targeted on the internet.
Would you like to dive deeper into this topic? You can on our cookies page.
What are your rights?
Your data belongs to you. It is therefore only logical that you can access your data registered with us. Would you like to view it or even receive a copy? That is possible! Want to change, delete, or restrict its use? That is also possible! No problem at all. Just contact our customer service and let us know your request. You can do this by phone at 088-112 05 00 or by email at info@tvbeugels.nl.
A small note is that we cannot delete the data we are required to keep based on a legal basis. The processing time for most requests is 1 to 3 business days. If you want insight into your data and a copy, this unfortunately takes a bit longer. From the moment of request, it takes a maximum of 3 weeks before you receive this by email from us.
Who is responsible?
Also not entirely unimportant: who is responsible for protecting the data you provide through this website?
