Once you have purchased a TV mount, it’s your responsibility to securely attach it to the wall. But how do you proceed? Here are some tips to mount the television straight on the wall.
Materials
Before you start, it’s important to gather the right materials. Think of a screwdriver (Phillips or flathead), hammer, pencil, tape measure, ring spanner, drill, and vacuum cleaner. To hang the TV mount and television straight, it’s advisable to use a level. Some TV mounts have a small built-in level.
Installation
The first step in mounting the TV bracket is attaching the frame to the TV. Place the screen face down on a stable surface. It’s smart to lay down a soft cloth or blanket to prevent damage to the TV. Then, take the correct bolts from the packaging and attach the strips or interface plate to the television. The strip or plate should not extend above, below, or beside the TV.
The next step is marking where you want to hang the television. You will need a pencil for this. Mark the screw holes of the TV mount on the wall. Keep in mind that the television is larger than the mount, so after installation, the TV may hang higher or lower than expected. You can account for this by measuring the distance between the screw holes and the TV, then marking this distance on the wall with a pencil. This way, you know exactly where your TV will hang.
Here you can see how high you should hang the TV.
The third step is attaching the mounting system. You can now fix the wall mount to the wall using the supplied screws, installation manual, and a suitable screwdriver. Use a level during installation to check if the mount is straight. The mount is level when the bubble in the level is between the two lines. In some cases, you can still slightly adjust the wall mount after installation to hang it perfectly. Before drilling, check that there are no electrical or water pipes inside the wall.
Finally, you can mount the TV with the frame onto the mounting system. You can now attach the television to the wall. If the TV is heavy or large, it’s wise to install it with multiple people.
Note: Some TV mounts include a built-in level. This is a handy tool for installation, but we still recommend always checking the level’s accuracy before use. There is a chance the level may lose its function due to, for example, a bump. You can check the level by first reading it horizontally and then vertically. If both readings give the same result, the level is reliable.
