On this page, a TV stand means a freestanding floor stand without wheels. The stand supports your screen from the floor, for example with a wide base plate, a column or a tripod. The TV is attached to the stand’s mounting bracket. A passive model such as the Wolff Mount TVB-66 has no electric adjustment.
This setup could suit an information or welcome screen in a hotel lobby, a fixed presentation area at a trade fair, a showroom or a living room. There’s no need to mount the television on the wall. Always check that the surface and available space are suitable for the model you choose.
Fixed floor standExample of a passive floor stand without wheels. The screen height can be adjusted manually; check the product details for the adjustment range.
Example: Wolff Mount TVB-66.Fixed refers to the base: these models don’t have wheels. Depending on the model, you may still be able to adjust the TV’s height, swivel it or tilt it. Passive means that no electrically powered adjustment is used. If you want to adjust the height with a motor, compare the electric TV stands.
A floor plate provides a clearly defined base under the screen. Measure its width and depth to make sure the stand can sit flat and fit fully in place. Consider walkways around the television and space for cables. Choose the load capacity and screen mount based on the product specifications, not on how sturdy the base looks.
A tripod can suit a living room, trade fair display or interior where the stand is a visible part of the decor. Its legs take up a different floor area than a flat base plate. Measure the full spread of the legs and keep walkways clear. The swivel function and mounting method vary by model.
In common usage, the original base under a television is also called a TV stand. If you’re looking for a replacement for that base or its feet, you need a universal TV stand for a cabinet or table. The TVB-61, TVB-64 and Barkan S320 are examples of this type of tabletop stand. They replace the original base; they don’t turn it into a tall floor stand.
Consider whether visitors will watch the screen standing or seated, and which direction they will approach from. Set the viewing height accordingly. Place the base outside the main walkway and route the cables so they don’t create a tripping hazard. Take into account any securing measures specified in the instructions, especially in areas where people walk past the screen.
A trade show setup that needs to be moved to another room regularly calls for a different choice. For that, see our mobile TV stands. For a business presentation with additional equipment, you’ll find more selection criteria among our presentation furniture.
Yes. Here, passive means without electric drive. On some models, you can adjust the height manually and then secure it according to the instructions.
Don’t assume that. Use only parts and combinations approved by the manufacturer. If you need to move it regularly, choose a mobile TV stand designed for that purpose.
That depends on the set mounting height and the position of the VESA holes on your screen. So also measure the distance between the mounting holes and the bottom edge of the TV.
Unsure whether they’re compatible? Ask for advice and provide your exact TV model, and tell us where the screen will be placed. Also read how to measure the VESA pattern.
