How to hang a TV bracket?

You have purchased a TV mount, now what? How is the TV mount installed on the wall? Below you will find some tips on what to watch out for when hanging your TV mount on a wall or cabinet. After that, you can read step-by-step instructions on how to install your TV mount on the wall.

Hanging a TV mount on a brick or concrete wall

Do you want to hang your TV mount on a brick or concrete wall? That is possible without any problems. With every TV mount you order from us, plugs for brick and concrete walls are included, along with the bolts to attach the TV to the mount.

Hanging a TV mount on a drywall

Special drywall or hollow wall mount

When mounting your TV mount on a drywall or hollow wall, it works a bit differently. You need to use special drywall plugs or hollow wall anchors. These are available at any hardware store. Is there a wooden frame behind the drywall? Then you can measure where this frame is located and mount the bracket on it.

For drywall, we always recommend choosing a drywall TV mount that is mounted flat against the wall. If you buy a TV mount that can be pulled away from the wall and can be swiveled and/or tilted, it may put too much pressure on the wall and damage it (the well-known lever effect). In the worst case, your TV could fall off the wall. View our range of drywall mounts here.

Hanging a TV mount on Ytong blocks

Always measure carefully when mounting a TV mount

Are you considering hanging your TV mount on a Ytong block wall? Then use the special Ytong block or drywall plugs. These are available at every hardware store.

For Ytong block walls, we always recommend, just like with drywall, choosing a TV mount that is mounted flat against the wall. If you choose a TV mount that can be pulled away from the wall and can be swiveled and/or tilted, it may put too much pressure on the wall and damage it. In the worst case, your television could fall off the wall.

Attaching a TV Mount to a Wooden Wall

Mounting a TV mount on a wooden wall is usually no problem, provided you take into account the thickness and sturdiness of the wall. For a sturdy, thick wall, you can use screw bolts. If the wall is thin and unstable, an additional wooden panel behind the wall can provide extra strength. Attach the mount with screw bolts or wood screws through both the wall and the extra panel.

For a plywood finish wall, you can use hollow wall plugs or mount the bracket directly on the frame to which the plywood is attached. This provides a stable base for the TV mount.

Step-by-step plan for mounting a TV mount

  1. Determine the correct height: Measure how high you want to hang the television.

  2. Marking: Hold the mount against the wall, use a level, and mark the screw holes. Some mounts include a template for extra convenience.

  3. Drill holes: Check if the plugs fit fully into the wall and deepen the hole if necessary.

  4. Attach the mount: Hold the mount against the wall and ensure the holes align. Use the supplied bolts or screws and tighten them diagonally for a secure attachment.

Two mounting options

A. Direct attachment to the mount

  • Screw the supplied screws into the VESA screw holes on the back of the TV.

  • Carefully hang the television on the mount and ensure both hooks are securely fastened.

  • Continue to support the TV briefly to check if it hangs firmly.

B. Attachment with separate vertical strips

  • Place the TV face down on a soft surface.

  • Attach the vertical strips to the VESA screw holes of the TV.

  • Check if the strips are firmly attached by lifting the TV.

  • Hook the TV with the vertical strips onto the horizontal part of the wall mount.

Your television is now securely attached to the wall!
