M8 describes the thread diameter, not the length you need. Use the manual for your exact TV model. Bracket thickness and any prescribed spacers also matter. There is no universal M8 screw length for Samsung TVs.
What does M8 mean?
M8 is a metric thread with a nominal outside diameter of 8 mm. A designation such as M8 × 30 also specifies a screw length. Two TVs with the same VESA pattern do not necessarily use the same screws.
Work out the correct length
- Find the full model number. Screen size or product series alone is not enough.
- Check the thread and permitted depth. Read where the drawing starts its measurement. A dimension from the rear casing is not necessarily the length engaging in the thread.
- Account for the mounting parts. Follow the diagram for bracket thickness, washers and spacers. Some Samsung drawings specify dimension C plus the bracket thickness and any spacers.
- Check the complete assembly. The screw must engage as instructed without bottoming out internally. Follow the tightening instructions too.
Why length matters
A screw that is too long can damage the TV or stop turning before the bracket is clamped securely. A short screw may not provide sufficient engagement. Never force a screw that does not fit.
Do not compensate with an arbitrary stack of washers. Spacers must form part of a permitted mounting arrangement. Have unclear dimensions checked before hanging the screen.
Samsung TV on a universal bracket
A bracket’s supplied screw set is not automatically suitable for every Samsung model. Compare the parts with the exact TV manual. An old order or advice for a different TV is not a substitute for that check.
